Iowa Man Sentenced To Two Years Imprisonment For Threatening The President
DAVENPORT, IA – On June 14, 2012, Tommy Eugene Krueger, age 24, of Iowa, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for mailing a letter threatening to kill the President of the United States, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also sentenced Krueger to three years’ supervised release.
On December 17, 2010, the United States Marshal Service in Montgomery, Alabama, received a hand-written letter from Krueger threatening to kill President Barack Obama. Krueger was subsequently interviewed and admitted writing the letter and sending it from the medical facility at which he was housed within the Iowa Department of Corrections.
The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service, and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
